Let's Get Going

June 10, 2015

I could write a 100 post about why I think you should travel and encouraging you to get out and travel but then you all would probably hate me and stop coming to the site so I won’t do that. However, if I’ve encouraged you enough and you’re planning your next trip here are some of my personal tips that I hope you find helpful.

Getting There

  1. Typically we don’t wear socks to the airport especially during the summer. Don’t forget you have to go through security and you will have to take off your shoes. Pack socks in your carry on. This has always been a MUST for me, that way you don’t have to step on the ground or have cold feet on the plane.

  2. If you’re only traveling for a few days and don’t want to bring all your make-up, perfumes, colognes, etc.… stop by Sephora grab a few travel size items and also ask a sales rep if they have any free samples. These are great for traveling.

  3. Traveling with your friends? Mark your belongings because everyone is your friend until your charger goes missing…okay? Mark that thing up so there’s no confusion.

Once You’re There

  1. Touristy things are cool but don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path. Whenever we go out of town my dad always ask the hotel workers or drivers, “Where would you take your family/closest friends”. Sometimes when you ask people where you should go they’ll tell you somewhere they think tourist will want to go. Remember you want to see the city like a local.

  2. TRY NEW THINGS. What’s the point of going somewhere new if you’re just going to do the same things you do when you’re at home.

  3. Make a local friend. When I was in London last summer one of the best nights Loni and I had happened when we made friends with people who lived there. This is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself but also don’t be overly trusting of people. You can’t go just anywhere with anybody.

  4. Okay I know that 1. you’re grown and 2. this is cliché but I think having a traveling partner is really important it’s not NECESSARY but I do think sometimes it makes all the difference.

  5. Lastly if you’re traveling in a larger group BRING CASH. Splitting checks, and ubers, and club fares and blah blah blah will be so much easier when you can just hand someone some cash.

My last little tid bit would be, yes document the moment via your social media accounts but don’t be so busy documenting the moment that you forget to live in it.

Happy travels and if you’re going somewhere soon we would love to hear all about it!

XOXO
